Hundreds of families in Nigeria’s Kajuru Local Government in the recent past have been displaced by an attack that occurred amidst COVID-19 lockdown. This crisis has consumed lives and properties worth millions of naira (Nigerian currency). The dastardly attack had left the only surviving victims without any means of survival, including a lack of food and shelter.

Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, in her effort to build bridges among aggrieved parties and put smiles on the faces of the victims who suffered the recent heinous attacks coupled with the challenge of lack of food as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown, distributed food items to both the Muslim and Christian clerics in an effort to reduce the effect of hardship amongst households.

In their separate remarks before the food was shared, the Country Director, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, and Sheikh Halliru Maraya who is the Northern Coordinator for the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria stressed that hunger does not have religion and COVID-19 does not spare individual on the basis of their identity. The world is suffering as a result of COVID-19 and globally, people are working together to fight the pandemic. Faith Leaders should, therefore, unite and work together for peace in their respective communities.

The beneficiaries in a unanimous message appreciated the kind support by the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria which will in many ways brings smile and happiness to their family members.
