The third annual Democracy in the Americas Symposium, hosted by the Zambrano Foundation was hosted by Miami-Dade College in Florida in the United States from November 6-7.

This year, the Global Peace Foundation and the Latin American Presidential Mission sponsored the critical dialogue around the ideals, principles and values that uphold democracy. Former President of Uruguay, H.E. Alberto Lacalle, and Former President of Guatemala, H.E. Vinicio Cerezo, both founding members of the Latin American Presidential Mission were joined by Enrique Iglesias, Former Secretary General of the Ibero-American General Secretariat on a special panel that capitalized on the insights and experiences of the former heads of state and intergovernmental organizations entitled: Pragmatism & Idealism – Tension among Ethical & Practical Resolutions of Governmental Issues.
