Brazil is sixth in the number of coronavirus cases in the world. In response to this, Global Peace Women reached out to support the seniors and vulnerable families under the COVID-19 quarantine, in Goiania, Brazil. The GPW volunteers distributed food baskets, hygiene kits, and medical supplies among 1000 people. In addition to the supplies, they also received an informative pamphlet on safety measures to take to prevent catching the virus.

Erika Thrombin, a volunteer said, “ Making life better for the most vulnerable group by donating Cesta básicas (basic packages) showed me that we are grateful for what we have and want to give something back, especially during at a time like this, where community service is extremely important.”

The elders in the population were also given simple training regarding preventing the spread of COVID-19. The elders who received the food baskets and presentations expressed their heartfelt gratitude. Ms. Luiza, as a recipient of a food basket said, “Thank you very much for the basic basket! I am unable to pay, but I am going to pray that God can double the help you are giving to others!”
