Volunteers for Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Tanzania actively helped communities stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. They collaborated with Community Voices in Focus (CVIF) to launch an awareness campaign that called on communities to follow five steps based on WHO guidelines to prevent further infection: handwashing, not touching faces, coughing etiquette, physical distancing, and staying home or seeking medical assistance when feeling sick.

GPF volunteers made hundreds of liters of liquid hand soap for distribution to the elderly centers, orphanages, and disabled people. They also set up buckets of water with tabs for Nunge Elderly Center and Madina Children orphanage center to use to wash their hands after volunteers gave the residents education on COVID-19 prevention steps.

GPF Tanzania plans to continue to distribute COVID-19 education through social media, radio, and television. Volunteers introduced the awareness campaign to the local health departments to partner for future education programs.
