Prefect Leadership Academy (PLA) is a high school leadership development program by the Global Peace Youth (GPY). The focus is to educate and raise school prefects to become future leaders with both moral and innovative capacity.  By developing lifelong competencies of leadership, problem solving skills, conflict resolution, communication skills, goal setting, and Character, the prefects become substantive ambassadors for sustainable peace and development in a school and community. A Prefect is defined as a school pupil in a position of power over other pupils. They are assigned prefectural duties. Prefects uphold the discipline of the School and fall second in line to Teachers. They are looked upon by the School community as students who are selected as they display good leadership skills. They stand out among other students for their intellect, capacity for thinking and acquiring knowledge of a high order. In addition, they must lead by example and take the lead. It is apparent that there exists a direct correlation between Leadership and being a Prefect.
