Chandaria Foundation Chairman and GPF Global Leadership Council member Dr. Manu Chandaria donated 1 million Kenyan shillings ($6000 US dollars) on September 26, 2013 to the Mary Leakey Girls Secondary School in Nairobi to equip a newly built laboratory and establish a Leadership and Entrepreneurship (LEAP) Hub at the school. Established in 1902, the school has an enrollment of 950 girls and is among the best performing in the area.

A LEAP Hub, a program of Global Peace Foundation, is a dedicated space within high schools where students can launch their own business or start a social enterprise. The Hub is a public-private sector partnership that supports creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation.

The LEAP Hub at Moi Forces Academy is set to be launched in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology among other partners. This hub will serve as a model to the other pilot schools as well as emerging schools, and can be scaled to support youth economic empowerment in Kenya and throughout Africa.

Dr. Chandaria previously pledged to donate four laptops to four GPF-supported Character and Creativity Initiative pilot schools—Buru Girls High School, Embakasi Girls Secondary School, Kenya High, and Our Lady of Fatima Secondary School. In addition, the Chandaria Foundation will support Mangu High School and Maina Wanjigi Secondary School to establish LEAP Hubs in their schools.
