H.E. Juan Carlos Wasmosy

Former President of the Republic of Paraguay

H.E. Juan Carlos Wasmosy served as President of the Republic of Paraguay from 1993 to 1998. During his term, he played an active role in the creation and early development of Mercosur, a major South American trade bloc. A civil engineer and businessman, H.E. Wasmosy also served as Minister for Integration and as the head of the Paraguayan consortium that built the Itaipu Dam, one of the world’s largest hydroelectric dams.
