Chairman of the Global Peace Foundation, Dr. Hyun Jin Moon, spoke at the opening plenary of the Global Peace Convention 2013. The Standard reports that, Dr. Moon presented the vision of “One Family under God,” to over 500 delegates from 40 countries.

Standard Digital recalls Dr. Moon’s urgent call “for co-operation among faith leaders,” as an integral component of “securing peace ‘at this critical inflection point of modern history.” Dr. Moon’s statement comes against the aftermath of the Westgate Mall terror attack in Nairobi. He warned, “that religious conflicts could destroy humanity,” writes the Standard Digital.

The Standard Digital drew attention to Dr. Moon’s proposal for a “faith-based Peace Council at the United Nations” that could provide solutions to identity-based conflicts.

The Global Peace Foundation has been creating and maintaining practical projects worldwide, that have brought “faith communities to work together […] to solve social problems,” reported the Standard Digital.

One example is the recent conference in Nigeria where “Christian and Muslim leaders were partnering with GPF to take the ‘One Family under God’ message into local communities [in Nigeria]. “

The Standard Digital also quoted Dr. Manu Chandaria, Chairman of the GPF Kenya chapter as observing that past events, such as the GPC 2010 held in Nairobi, “helped revamp peace in the country.”
