Global Peace Foundation Kenya and Partners Break Ground for Kariobangi Cross-Community Cooker Project

Global Peace Foundation Kenya and other members of the Environment Track, hosted a ground-breaking ceremony for the Kariobangi Community Cooker Project at the Kariobangi Social Hall Grounds in Embakasi North Constitency on Wednesday, 11th of May.

The initiative is supported by ten corporations who share a common goal: to advance the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through sustainable methods of waste management. The Community Cooker Project uses combustible waste to generate energy like charcoal for clean cooking to reduce negative impacts on the environment and providing youth with skills and employment opportunities.

In attendance was Governor Evans Kidero, among other distinguished guests, who emphasized the importance of youth empowerment. "The youth are an integral component of any developing city therefore we must ensure they are empowered and given all the necessary opportunities to develop, grow and nurture their potential as this will in turn ensure our city is developed and guarantees our future."
