Global Peace Youth-US features outstanding young people from across the nation who take ownership of the challenges facing their communities through moral and innovative leadership. Jessica Rose, a graduate of the most recent International Young Leaders Assembly (IYLA) held in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City, is currently studying Political Science as a sophomore at New York’s Pace University. In a statement to GPY, Jessica shared her enthusiam for moral and innovative leadership.

“After the completion of the Setters Leadership and Service House organization my Freshman year, my personal ideals of leadership began to expand. One assignment required us to construct a leadership portfolio where I explored my passion for leadership and helping others. Personally, I value enthusiasm to engage others, humility to be able to admit when I’ve made a mistake or need assistance, and reliability for those counting on my participation, comments or suggestions. I listen to others and try to offer assistance where I can. I feel all gestures of kindness, regardless of how small, are important because they are a true expression of my character. As a moral and innovative leader my goal is to help inspire others through giving back, remain ethical, stay creative, think outside of the box, and motivate others to remain optimistic regardless of the circumstances.”
As an IYLA Ambassador, Jessica had the opportunity to expand her vision to the global stage, engaging with over 1,000 other young professionals, students, and leaders from more than 115 countries from around the world at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York. IYLA engages its delegates with the theme Moral and Innovative Leadership: Vision, Service, and Entrepreneurship.

Jessica told GPY why she saw moral and innovative leadership as essential to making a real difference.
“Leaders speak through actions, they are sought after for advice, and looked up to as the frontline for support for an organization, university, government, and the general public. It is more than essential for us as leaders to look inward and reflect upon our values, morals, and leadership goals, so we remain true to ourselves. This best enables us to assist our surrounding community, as well as to be innovative for the future. A consistent desire to advance and affect the maximum amount of individuals as possible in relation to a leaders cause must remain unwavering. Morals depict a leaders true colors, where innovation shows their want for expansion and growth; both are essential in the present day society regardless of location, origin, or ethnicity.”
