Throughout the month of October, volunteers with Global Peace Foundation Tanzania promoted a peaceful election season in a campaign called “Kura Yangu Amani Yangu” (“My Vote My Peace”). While door to door visits in Dar es salaam, Dodoma, Arusha, and Cost region (Bagamoyo, Kibaha, and Kisarawe) encouraged people to go out and vote, it also brought smiles and dialogue between diverse groups to show their support to identify first as people of Tanzania and one family before political affiliation. A separate social media campaign through Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram as well as airtime on Radio One, Clouds Media, and ITV also spread the message of peace throughout the country.
