MLK Celebrated through Service in Lynnwood, Washington

Over 100 Global Peace Youth volunteers gathered at the New Life Church in Lynnwood, Washington to spend their day off in service to the community on January 16, 2016. GPY-USA Director, Kimihira Miyake welcomed volunteers, emphasizing the importance of honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of peace and reiterating his quote, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'” Lynnwood City Councilman, Ian Cotton, and New Life pastor, Keith Light, also thanked volunteers for embodying inspirational, model leadership by serving their community.

Projects included outdoor renovation of a local park, creating motivational posters for elementary schools, and creating care packages for soldiers overseas.
