Participants of a three-day Global Peace Association Nepal Leadership Workshop and other Global Peace Volunteers raised funds and gathered supplies to help children in Nepal’s Far Western Region, Dhangadi.

While visiting some public schools, the volunteers witnessed the difficult situation of school children who are not adequately dressed for cold weather and whose classrooms are in devastating condition, with no facilities or carpeting to protect children from cold.

On January 1-2, 2013, Global Peace Volunteers distributed warm clothes and carpets to two schools, Sarswoti Primary School and Shree B.P Smriti Primary School. Around one hundred students benefited from the program.

Global Peace Volunteers also distributed warm clothes to more than a hundred men, women and children of the impoverished Musar Community in the Far Eastern Region, Itahari.

“Most of the children don’t come to school regularly due to the cold weather,” said Mrs. Lajiya Rana Tharu, Teacher of Shree B.P Smriti School, Dhangadhi. “But after the distribution of warm clothes and carpet to our school, the children come to school regularly. On behalf of the children, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the volunteers of Global Peace Association Nepal.”

“I feel so fulfilled after seeing the people’s happy faces receiving the warm clothe

s. I would like to thank our supporters for extending their help for the welfare of the community,” added Mr. Saroj Karki, GPV, Itahari.

The programs would not be possible without the support of Africa-Asia Destitute Relief Foundation Nepal, Help Nepal Network, Er. Ram Rohan Panta, Bal Sandhya Chetana Club, Nagar Bal Samnayan Samiti, Manokranti Bal Bikas Kendra, Mahila Bal BAlika Sarokar Kendra, UPKA Nepal, Matrisishu and Women Savings And Credits.
