David Caprara, local Virginian from Spotsylvania,  and vice-president at the Global Peace Foundation is at the helm of an upcoming Fredericksburg benefit to raise money for Nepal earthquake victims.

A month before the April 25earthquake rocked the country, Caprara was in Nepal for a sub-regional consultative meeting with the Asia-Pacific Peace and Development Service Alliance. Within 48 hours of the quake, those same young people had organized Rise Nepal, a group of volunteers ready to help their beloved country in any way they could.“Out of that tragedy, there was a pre-existing, latent hub of youth ready to roll into immediate action,” said David Caprara.

More than 8,000 people have died and another 18,000 were injured in the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal in 81 years.

Every dollar collected during the Rise Nepal concert and silent auction at the Inn at the Old Silk Mill June 14 will go directly to the volunteers’ efforts.
