Teens and Young Adults Come Together to Help Community on MLK Day

On January 18, 2016 eighty some teenagers and young adults gathered to help improve the Edmonds community in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Volunteers fixed a heavily used trail and painted motivational posters to be hung at Meadowdale Elementary School.

The organizers, Global Peace Foundation, City of Lynnwood and others, say community projects like these help develop leadership qualities in teens and young adults.

“Everyday leaders serve a higher purpose, not just themselves,” coordinator Naomi Yakawich said. “If they have a mindset of serving others, we can make a difference. Martin Luther King was all about that.”
