Hundreds of students from Gunadarma University opened the Millennials Peace Festival in Jakarta on September 27, 2018 for three days of education and advocacy on preventing violent extremism and sharing action-driven solutions to building peace.

The second day of the festival included celebrations held simultaneously at Gunadarma University, SMAN 79 South Jakarta, SMAN 20 Central Jakarta, and SMK Maarif West Jakarta. More than 800 young people participated in Youth Assemblies that provided seminars about radicalism and violent extremism and how to safely use the internet and social media. Youth participated in Peace Circle sessions as a means of discussion to share knowledge and create concepts for anti-radicalism campaigns that fit the millennial generation. The festival included various competitions and activities like painting kites to channel ideas and creativity on peacebuilding, traditional games, board games from Peace Generation, and other artistic performances.

The third day of the Jakarta Millennials Peace Fest was held in residential areas around the Gunadarma Karawaci campus. Participants campaigned directly in public on the dangers of radicalism and violent extremism and theĀ abuse of technology, especially on social media.
